March & Hymn Contest.

The Boarshurst Band Present;-

The Boarshurst Trophy.

The Boarshurst Band is pleased to announce that the 5th Annual March & Hymn Contest will take place on Sunday 5th September 2010 at the Boarshurst Band Club, Greenbridge Lane, Greenfield, Saddleworth, Commencing at 2pm.

The Competition will consists of a short street march, for the Deportment prize, a Hymn Tune followed by a Contest Quick March to be played on the stand in a similar style to the Whit Friday Contests.

The Adjudicator on the day will be David Horsfield.

Prize Money of £1350-00.

The Contest will be in 3 sections.
Section A; Championship & 1st Section Bands.
Section B; 2nd & 3rd Section Bands.
Section C; 4th Section Bands, Youth and un-registered bands.

Prizes.

The Main Prizes will be as follows;
1st Prize Overall. £300.00 plus ‘The Boarshurst Trophy’.
2nd Prize Overall. £150.00 plus ‘The AA Testco Trophy’
3rd Prize Overall. £100.00
(These places are awarded as a result of consolidated points).

Overall Hymn Tune Prize; £100.00 plus the David Hirst Memorial Trophy.

Section Hymn Tune Prizes (Not in main prizes).
Section A; £50.00.
Section B; £50.00.
Section C; £50.00.

The Sections March Prizes (Not in main prizes) are as follows;
1st Prize £100.00 plus Trophy.

Plus Additional prizes for Best;

Deportment £50.00,
Solo Cornet £50.00,
Bass section £50.00,
Solo Euph £50.00,
Trombone section £50.00.
Plus Trophies.


The contest will be pre – drawn and all entrants will be given their approximate time of starting.
The draw will take place on Wednesday 1st September 2010, after which all bands will be informed.


Rules.
All bands will play a Street March along Greenbridge Lane, for Deportment judging.
Bands will then play their selected Hymn Tune followed by their selected Contest March.

NOTE. Bands may borrow up to a maximum of 6 players from same or lower section bands except 4th section who can borrow 3 of the 6 from the 3rd section.
National Grading will apply.
Percussion is not allowed whilst playing on the stand.

Any breach of these rules could result in disqualification.
Organising committee decisions will be final.
